My warmest greetings to my fellow Councilors, the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL), its Officers and Staff.
As local legislators, it is our right and bounden duty to enact local legislative measures that uplift the living conditions of our respective constituents. Toward this primary end, we have conducted various conferences, symposia, seminars and lectures that enhanced our knowledge and understanding of the task at hand, enabling us to better serve the people who trusted and voted us into the public offices we now occupy.
We have partnered with other government agencies, various non-government organizations and the civil society which aid us in our public functions, not to mention the small favors and privileges that translate into better services that we cater.
We now join the information age with the establishment of the upgraded PCL website where we can reach out to our constituents and to one another. Through the PCL website, we can share projects, policies and ideas thereof, even draft ordinances and resolutions, which may be applicable in our respective jurisdictions. It contains the schedule of activities lined up during our term, a database of information on our Members-Councilors, their professions, contact details, current projects and proposed local legislations. Also, through the website, the PCL Chapters may report updates on their activities, share information and events with regard to their territories, upload photos and videos of important chapter milestones, thereby contributing to a stronger, more pro-active League.
Finally, may I sway my dear fellow Councilors to be most pro-active in the fight for the environment. This must take precedence among our undertakings as our present terms come to a dawn. We should be at the forefront in the shaping of policies which affect not only our generation but those of our children, their children, and the next generations to come after them. At this day and age, we feel the chilling effect of global warming and climate change and the accompanying calamities and disasters. As local legislators, it is within our united power to create local policies that address the environmental concern. Let us therefore be pro-active, let us join the movement that espouses environmental protection and be part of the solution to global warming and climate change.
Mabuhay and mga Konsehal. Mabuhay ang PCL!
